THE KLONDIKE GOLD RUSH OF 1896

The Klondike Gold Rush was a major event in Canadian history. When a large amount of gold was found in the Klondike region of Yukon, more than 100,000 people from Canada and the U.S. rushed to make their way north. A few lucky people mined enough gold to make them rich beyond their wildest dreams, but most went home empty-handed. The Gold Rush had lasting impacts on Yukon, its environment, and the Indigenous peoples who lived there.
